High winds and massive hailstone strikes left a wake of leaking roofs in the Gladeville, TN, area on Friday, June 17th. Commercial property owners across Wilson and nearby counties require prompt commercial roof inspection services to expedite insurance claims. RestoreMaster has expert hail roof damage inspectors at the scene. Emergency roof repair field crews have been sent to prevent further losses.

The storm front trekked across Central Tennessee during the mid-morning hours, bringing high winds and large hail that pounded automobiles and inflicted roof damage. Commercial property owners are urged to request a complimentary roof inspection to help fast-track insurance claims. A commercial roof inspection is crucial even if property owners do not immediately see signs of a leaking roof. Moisture penetrations accumulate in insulation and soak into beams, causing structural damage later.

A local hail damage map shows a large storm over Gladeville, TN, spanning northwest to the business districts around Belinda City and southeast to Bairds Mill. The yellow outer sections of the hailstorm damage map show icefall up to 1.25 inches. Light orange swaths indicate hail as large as 1.75 inches in diameter cracked windshields and dented rooftops.

The darker orange rings point to hailstones up to 2.5 inches pummeling roofing systems. But the dense purple at the center of the storms proves hailstones the size of baseballs smashed shingles and dented metal roofs around Gladeville.

The National Weather Service high wind, tornado, and hail damage map for Friday, June 17th, shows a cluster of storm fronts moving across Central Tennessee. Other impacted regions include Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Southern states along the East Coast. A full accounting shows that one tornado, 458 high wind events, and 37 hailstorms devastated communities in a 24-hour period. News and social media reports in Wilson County, TN, and nearby communities sustained the following property and roof damage.

  • Belinda: Hailstones reached the size of large apples as residential and commercial buildings took heavy roof damage.
  • Brentwood: Numerous buildings had roof shingles stripped off as high winds raged across Williamson and Davidson county. Utility poles were snapped, and residents lost power.
  • La Vergne: High winds downed power lines and utility poles at Forest Lane and Hampton Drive.
  • Murfreesboro: High winds snapped trees, and at least one landed on a house on New Salem Highway. Multiple reports of 61 mph gusts tore shingles off roofs in Rutherford County.
  • Mount Juliet: Multiple hailstones strikes were reported, ranging from ice the size of tennis balls slamming into metal, flat and low-slope roofs across business districts to baseball-sized chucks splintering shingles and panels. High winds snapped branches and uprooted trees.

  • Springfield: Storm chasers recorded wind speeds of 63 mph as trees were toppled across Robertson County.

Securing a prompt, detailed commercial roof inspection from a certified roofing firm following a hailstorm or high wind event creates an official record for insurance claims. RestoreMaster sent emergency roof inspection and repair teams to Leesburg, VA after high wind and hailstorm caused widespread property damage on June 2, 2022.

Tornadoes, hail, and even strong winds can cause severe wind damage to roofing systems.

Winds as low as 50 mph can cause some older roofs to be damaged.

The intensity of roof damage is determined by various factors: the velocity and impact of flying debris, the quality of the original installation, the building height and location in relation to other buildings, the angle and shape of the roof, and the material used on the roof.

Following severe weather like this, it’s important to get a thorough roof inspection & property damage assessment to determine whether or not you have roof damage from hail or wind.

In situations where you’ve got a leaking roof, experienced disaster roofing contractors can stop the leaks temporarily, by laying tarp or by using a durable shrink-wrap plastic membrane in the affected areas, or even over the entire roof. This will keep your building protected until permanent repairs can take place. This will help prevent mold infestation from water leaks.

If your property was anywhere within the storm damage map, it would be best to get your roof inspected, even if you think your roof was not damaged.

Many storm damage symptoms are not always evident immediately.

And deadlines from insurance companies could hinder you from filing a claim later.
