Emergency Roofing Crews Alerted After Ardmore, OK, Hit By Hail & High Winds On Sunday, May 15, 2022

Hundreds of high wind and falling ice storms wrecked residential and commercial properties across the Southwest on Sunday, May 15th, with Ardmore, Oklahoma, suffering heavy hail damage to roofing systems. The hail property damage left rooftops battle-scarred as 70 mph winds tore shingles and entire sections of commercial buildings. Storm tracking platforms posted real-time assessments as hailstorms and high winds threatened southeast Oklahoma. Residents were urged to take shelter, shield automobiles, and protect family pets.

Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include Ardmore, Durant, Madill, Tishomingo, Marietta, Lone Grove, Healdton, Wilson, Kingston, Dickson, Colbert, Caddo, Mannsville, Bokchito, Ravia, Achille, Thackerville, Bennington, Silo, and Milburn. Considerable hail threat, radar indicated max wind gust, 70 mph,” according to reports.

Real-time tracking alerts proved correct as Carter County and neighboring municipalities suffered extensive automobile and roof storm damage. A local wind and hailstorm damage map highlights the areas and size of falling ice that left buildings in dire need of roof leak repair. The color-coded imaging shows overlapping hailstorms in yellow and orange.

Yellow sections northeast of Ardmore and long stretches over Durant and Lake Texoma indicate hail up to 1.25 inches pelting regions. The light orange areas show ice up to 1.75 inches falling, and the dark orange demonstrates ice stones more than 2 inches in diameter, inflicting hail damage on roofs and windshields. The light gray swaths on the weather map show high winds stretching from Ardmore across the Texas border and another overlapping Durant.
