Hurricane Response TPO Roofing & Restoration

Hi, my name’s Daniel Irvin. I’m here at Marina Towers in Punta Gorda, Florida. Last year, in 2022, Hurricane Ian came through and damaged the condo. We’re here today. I’m currently working on a few projects, trying to finish up the job. Come with me and take a look, and I’ll show you what’s going on.

Here behind me is a 125-foot boom lift. Our guys are currently on the boom lift right now, installing custom-made coping on the seven-story tower. What the coping does, it prevents water intrusion, and it caps off the parapet wall around the building.

We just came up with the elevator. I wanted to discuss a few projects we’re working on. We repainted the entire building. We put two coats of paint on it, as well as painting the rails and redoing all the scuppers onto the bores, which was 76 total scuppers. We resealed all those, fixed all the stucco, as well as painting two coats of paint on the floors, and we also added SharkGrip for slip resistance to the paint. We also redid the carports down below. There’s four carports. We did all the necessary stucco repairs. We replaced the roofs with standing seam metal roofs and repainted all the carports also.

In the pool house area, we redid the entire pool house. We replaced the roof. We repainted all the parapet walls over there. We replaced the roof on the gazebo and repainted the gazebo. On the rear side of this building, the main building, we replaced all the screens in the rear of the building and the necessary lanai repairs also.

Now that we’re up on the roof, originally, they had a mechanically fastened system. We upgraded them to a fully adhered system. The first thing we had to do was remove the existing roof down to the lightweight concrete. We removed the debris from the roof by crane because this is a six-story building. We installed new ISO and new TPO. The ISO was adhered to the lightweight concrete using Olybond, and the TPO was adhered using bonding adhesive. Once all the TPO was installed on the roof, we installed walk pads around all the air conditioners and to all the walkways.
